'Souping' has become the replacement of Juicing for so many avid juicers! and it's popularity makes complete sense as not only are soups warming, nourishing and delicious they're packed full of vegetables which can be rich in fibre and protein, both of which are not present in fruit based juices. Also having a soup for one of your meals forces you to sit down for at least five minutes to eat it which allows you to properly relax, digest your food and consciously feed your body. Which is hard to do when juicing on the go!
I'm not saying I'm not a fan of juicing or smoothies because in actual fact I am and every so often I do treat my body to a three-five day cleanse and I'm planing a NOSH detox cleanse in February to give my digestive system a break but thats the longest I've juiced for as I quite quickly miss the taste and eating process of enjoying a real meal!
*HONESTLY HEALTHY RECIPE*
Right, back to this incredible and super easy alkaline soup recipe by Honestly Healthy.... I can't tell you how QUICK, EASY and DELICIOUS this soup is so you'll just have to make it yourself, I know you'll be amazed!
- 350g butternut squash
- 1tsp sunflower oil
- 1.5 vegetable Bouillon powder
- generous pinch of pink Himalayan salt- (post on this miracle salt will be up next week!)
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- Preheat the oven to 175c
- Peel and chop the butternut squash into 2cm cubes (click here on how to cut a butternut squash, this might sound silly to the super-cooks out there but I was clueless!). Cover in sunflower oil and roast in the oven for 20 or until soft.
- Place the butternut squash and the rest of the ingredients into the blender until velvety smooth
- Serve and enjoy!
