London Fashion Week - February 2013

Sunday, 17 February 2013

LFW is here! After my relaxing morning being absolutely pampered by Clarins at Selfridges (see previous post for review) and spending my afternoon chilling out, writing blog posts and preparing for the most exciting part of my 2013 first quarter...The David Koma A/W show I was ready to hit Somerset House for London Fashion Week 2013.
I was lucky enough to receive an invite from where I work at The Evening Standard newspaper and as soon as the beautiful Manolo Blahnik hand illustrated invite landed on my desk I was filled with pure excitement and had already mentally planned my show outfit! (expect nothing less)

After trying on outfit after outfit I finally decided on my new striking red blazer from Zara, (complete with gorgeous royal gold buttons), my black Topshop long sleeved Midi dress and my gold zipped wedges. I accessorised with my latest investment, my Anathema Mantle necklace and my Harry Rocks lucky coin draped over the top of my Mantle for subtle outfit detail and finished my outfit off with my Topshop bowler hat and straight hair.

I was quite literally stunned with the absolutely striking power of Koma's Autumn/ Winter Collection. 'She's tapping her toes to a new rhythm' as Koma describes his new collection. Sophisticated as ever and tightly tailored as we would expect, but with an interesting futuristic rhythm with a sixties fun edge.
The models walked up the runway in powerful manner, matching the music for the show- everything about Koma's show shouted Power, strength and pure sophisticated style.  I loved the contrasting textures of this collection....Tthe super sculptured leather skirts and dresses cut so sharply and seductively finished seamlessly with towered wedges which added to the power of Koma's phenomenal pieces.
Koma's palette of head-to-toe black is injected with classic nudes, intense reds and midnight blue. These strong colours are without a doubt created for a woman who isn't afraid to match her outfit to her powerful personality.

I left Koma's show feeling completely and utterly inspired, I absolutely adored his use of feminine power through his designs. I'm very excited for Autumn's fashion and will most definitely be re-creating Koma's looks.

This season Mulberry has quite literally pulled it out the bag (pardon the pun) with this all black tote, covered in a subtle leaf/tree design for a mysteriously intense effect. The image on this tote cleverly suggests a wildly intense and undetermined Winter ahead of us in terms of Fashion.....  I can now replace my Mulberry fashion week tote with this beauty (ultimate gym bag).

Happy Fashion Week and thanks for reading! xx

  1. Amazing- I was literally just about to go through the doors to Koma but had to dash to Rihanna as I didn't want to miss it! Great report.

  2. Great pictures!! Love the outfit with the red blazer so much!
