A Penhaligon's Birthday treat

Tuesday, 22 November 2011

I was walking down the kings road one Sunday afternoon and discovered a lovely little perfumers that literally pulled me in with the wonderful warm scents spilling out of the shop and onto the Chelsea road...
I've always heard good things about Penhaligons but had never been there to experience the true amazingness of it for myself!.. So took this as the perfect opportunity to make a purchase, as I was more than impressed with this little shop and knew I had some important birthdays coming up.
For our best friend Josie's 22nd Birthday,  Sarita and I bought a beautiful little perfume compact set in a stunning sterling silver compact with a mirror too! The idea is that once you've used up the perfume you can still use the compact as a mirror!! That's what I like, a present that will last forever!

I was so impressed with the gift packaging, being wrapped in Penhaligon's signature green paper and matching scented bows, and all wonderfully finished off with delicate tissue paper covered in illustrations of Penhaligon's perfumes and the lady in the shop even sprayed the paper with perfume for that extra special touch.

I had visited Penhaligons with 'The Russian' and couldn't help but notice how much he adored one scent in particular 'Endymion' made from hand squeezed bergamot, Jasmine, Lavender and Sage with base notes of Nutmeg, Black pepper, musk, leather, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Myrrh!!! What a combination of ingredients... It smells like a true man should!
Knowing his birthday was soon approaching, I just had to buy it for him! (his birthday is today) He's literally just opened it and is very pleased that I remembered the scent that he liked so much... As soon as he opened it I made sure I got a good photo for this post!! (dedicated blogger?! haha).

As you can see in the photo, Penhaligon's signature fragrance bottle is to William Penhaligon's original design, being a clear glass bottle with a distinctive ribbon wrapped top. This makes the perfect birthday treat for someone special <3
